01What we are
Imports & Exports explains, step by step, how to start and run an import-export business from India: the registrations, the product rules, the buyer countries, the documents, the schemes and how to get paid.
It is written first for someone making a first export shipment — a trader, a farmer producer company, a small manufacturer. Existing exporters and importers will find the rules, schemes and documents in one place.
02How we check
- Fees, rates, duties, policies and dates come from official sources: DGFT, CBIC and ICEGATE, the Commerce Ministry, RBI, ECGC, APEDA, MPEDA, the commodity boards, the export promotion councils, and the buyer country’s own customs or standards site.
- Every page lists its sources with links.
- Where we could not find an official figure, we say so and point you to the portal to check — we never guess.
- Rules change often. Each section shows when it was last reviewed; confirm the current rule on the official page before you act.
03What we do not do
- We do not sell registrations, licences or buyer lists, and we take no fee from anyone.
- We are not a customs broker, freight forwarder or consultant.
- We do not promise profits. The calculators show what your own numbers add up to.
